Mango sticky riceThis is a simple recipe with a light sauce and juicy mango slices. I've made it with leftover chinese food rice, or using an instant pot to cook the rice in coconut water. You can cook the rice in a pot as well, of course.
Watermelon, feta and mint salad with grilled shrimpI found this recipe after trying one that Jillian made which didn't have shrimp (that one had watermelon and feta and mint), but there was another one with canteloupe, cream and shrimp that was equally delicious. This one has a tangy lime dressing. We had it without arugula but it would be nice with it as well!
Sangria ExoticaThis was a delicious sangria we had in 3 Brasseurs restaurant in Old Montreal. The waitress wrote the recipe out for me on the back of the bill 🙂 It has an interesting combination of wine and beer, which makes it a bit fizzy.
Squash Casserole with Potato-Chip CrustWe found this recipe by accident when Jillian brought over some frozen squash. It's quite yummy and everyone thought it should be added to the holiday foods list.
Assorted MargaritasWe went to a Margarita tasting night at our friendly neighbourhood fancy liquor store, and they served many different types of tequila and these margaritas. Sadly I didn't really get quantities, so experimentation is necessary to find a good balance.
Yummy Thai DressingThis marinade/dressing is delicious on a Thai-style salad with steak or chicken slices, mango slices, chinese noodles or whatever you like!
Grandma Betty’s Mint PickleThis was a recipe my Grandma made with her friends after the summer’s mint crop was harvested from the garden. It was nice on lamb.
Dad’s San Marzano Tomato SauceThis recipe would be similar to 'Old Fart's spaghetti sauce', except vegetarian. Makes about 12 cups (enough to feed a big Italian family with plenty of leftovers!)
Dad’s Greek Baby Back RibsSimple greek-flavoured ribs, slow-cooked. Start this recipe the day before you plan to eat it. Great with roasted veggies.
Dave’s Cinnamon BunsDave's cinnamon buns... truly a gift from the heavens. Every few months we get these little gifts of love from Dave, who drops by with his gooey yummy freshly-baked cinnamon extravaganza. He has tinkered and perfected this recipe. We made them for the cast at Ka and they said they were the best they had ever tasted.
Dean’s White CakeOur lovely nanny, Dean, made this delicious white cake for many birthdays when the kids were little. Always elegantly made with a theme, like this Elmo one for Sofi. It is made with buttermilk and is really moist, heavier and delicious. It is wonderful with cream cheese icing.
Pho Ga – Vietnamese saté chicken soupI tried a lot of recipes for this Vietnamese soup that we really love and then I found this one, which is the real deal. You can watch the video here: Vietworld Kitchen. I always make the broth and then add the stuff our local restaurant adds, plus some extras; onions, broccoli, chicken, green onions, bok choy and some of the spicy chili saté paste I keep around most of the time.
Chicken MarbellaThis is an amazingly delicious chicken dish that everyone loves, even if they don't always like some of the ingredients (olives!) We read about this in our Ottolenghi recipe book but the original is from the Silver Palate. I've modified it a bit. It is best if it marinates for a while, so make it a day ahead.

This is a selection of our favourite family recipes, so we can keep them and pass them down. Please send the ones you love so I can add them too. The only rule is, you must have tried the recipe first. Enjoy!
