Cookie Crust Lemon Pie DessertThis homemade lemon pie is delicious with the cookie crust. It was delicate and delicious. I use either the cream cheese filling or a vanilla pudding filling along with it, but you can just make the lemon and meringue and leave out that step if preferred. One time I didn’t have any lemons so I tried frozen lemonade, and then it didn’t thicken so I added copious amounts of cornstarch. It finally thickened but then when we tried it, it was like eating a rubber ball. So don’t do that 😜
Chocolate BrowniesThis recipe is from my 1940’s era cookbook. It’s a chewier kind, not the cake-like (it doesn’t have much flour)
Butterscotch SquaresAnother treat from my 1947 cookbook, “Fun with Cooking”. Even I am not that old.
Snip DoodleA childhood favourite. We made this many times as kids. I love the cinnamon-sugar topping which would get crispy.
Baking Powder Biscuits / Strawberry ShortcakeThis is from my very old cookbook “Fun with Cooking”, by Mae Blacker Freeman. It features a 50’s-era teenage girl with ribbons on either side of her head showing us how to cook her favourite things. You can also modify this recipe for strawberry shortcake by adding 2 tbsp sugar into the dough
Mint Chocolate CheesecakeThis always looks so fresh and … minty 🙂 It could be made gluten free by using a gluten-free cookie crust, or nuts with cocoa.
Classic CheesecakeI think this recipe is from Best of Bridge. Someone typed it out for me without many details.
Sherri’s Key Lime PieFor many years, our friends Winston & Sherri visited us and cooked up fabulous treats. This was one of them. I remember juicing many little limes which took a while but it was delicious!
Gingerbread with lemon sauceYum – The best gingerbread I ever had was at a little neighbourhood bistro. This (wiki) image shows caramel sauce, but they had a delicious hot lemon sauce that they poured over top.
Hazelnut GelatoI found this recipe in the book “Under the Tuscan Sun” which is also a movie. Makes about 2 quarts. After you make it, you can pretend you’re in Italy.
Cream Cheese Fruit DipsThese dips are nice with various fruits for parties. The cream cheese/marshmallow cream version is my favorite!
