Dean’s White CakeOur lovely nanny, Dean, made this delicious white cake for many birthdays when the kids were little. Always elegantly made with a theme, like this Elmo one for Sofi. It is made with buttermilk and is really moist, heavier and delicious. It is wonderful with cream cheese icing.
Banana Pie DessertThis is like a banana pie without a traditional crust. Sofi loves it. She’s asked for it for her birthday cake. I’ve made it more healthy lately by using gluten free cookies for the crust, and substituting the whipping cream with coconut whipped cream.
Moon CakeFrom Sofi's grade 3 class favorites cookbook. Emily-Ann said "I chose this recipe because it is a different dessert that no one would think of".
BlinziFrom Sofi's grade three recipe book of people's favorites. Eden said "Others will enjoy it because no kid will dislike it. It's a sweet little recipe and kids like most sweet things!"
Greek RibsPart of Sofi's grade 3 recipe book of everyone's favourites. Faith's description: "I chose this recipe because it has a yummy touch of lemon juice. My family likes these ribs so I think others will too."
PopoversPart of Sofi's grade 3 recipe book of everyone's favourites. Katherine's description: "I chose this recipe because they blow up and you can put whatever you want inside them."
Valentine CookiesThese are the most delightfully crispy but soft yummy sugar cookies. I first had them when my friend on the ski team brought them to our race. Her mom had made them for all of us to enjoy on Valentine's Day. (That same mom also made all of us racing suits). I've made them pretty much every year since. They are fantastic with some pink icing made with the juice from marascino cherries or frozen strawberries, so they have a real fruit flavour.
Grandma’s Lemon Cake & GlazeThis is a delicious and easy recipe that Grandma Betty used to make. It has pudding in it, so it is very moist. We usually make it in a 'bundt' style pan, and then glaze it shortly after it comes out of the oven (still hot) with a lemon and icing sugar glaze that sets into the cake and gives it an almost crispy lemon topping after it cools.

This is a selection of our favourite family recipes, so we can keep them and pass them down. Please send the ones you love so I can add them too. The only rule is, you must have tried the recipe first. Enjoy!
